As our Ophthalmic Healthcare Assistant, you will be:
- Supporting qualified staff in the delivery of compassionate, high-quality care for ophthalmology patients.
- Assisting in clinics, pre-assessments and diagnostic tests, ensuring patients are comfortable, informed and supported throughout their visit.
- Helping to prepare and maintain clinical areas, equipment and consumables, adhering to infection control and safety procedures.
- Acting as a chaperone when required and providing reassurance to patients and carers.
- Managing patient flow efficiently, communicating any delays and ensuring a smooth clinic experience.
- Working collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team and external healthcare professionals to support excellent patient outcomes.
- Completing your Care Certificate and role-specific competencies within agreed time frames.
With your experience working in a healthcare or customer-facing role, you will also have:
- NVQ Level 3 in Health & Social Care (or equivalent experience) or willingness to work towards it.
- Excellent communication skills.
- A caring, compassionate nature with the ability to reassure and support patients.
- Reliability, flexibility and strong time-management skills.
- Ability to use IT systems confidently and accurately.
- Commitment to maintaining patient privacy, dignity and confidentiality at all times.
