About The Role

We are excited to announce a new opportunity within IUC to join us as a Core Health Advisor (CHA) at our Ipswich site on a part time basisThe CHA role will initially be offered as a six month fixed term contract, with the potential to become a permanent position in the future. 

This is your chance to train to be a Core Health Advisor in our 111 call centre, handling calls from members of the public. You’ll learn how to use a state-of-the-art triage tool called NHS Pathways to assess patients over the phone and direct them to the most appropriate care. Although these are not emergency calls, you’ll also need to be prepared to deal with emotional, distressing or life-threatening scenarios and to arrange for 999 services if required.

For this role, you must be willing and flexible to work shifts (Monday to Sunday) on day contracts. You will work a shift pattern which is set for you by our Workforce Planning Team at least 4 weeks in advance.

Contracts will be restricted to 16, 20, 24 and 30 hours per week, plus a guaranteed regular day off on either Tuesday, Wednesday, or Thursday (to be agreed based on availability) You can expecta guaranteed minimum of one full weekend off every four weeks.

Rate of Pay:

£16.80 per hour between 7am and 11pm Monday to Sunday.

Training Dates:

The full-time programmes runs over a four week period (9:00am-5:00pm) whilst the part-time training runs over a six week period Sat & Sun (9am-5pm) including Tues, Weds, Thurs (5pm-9.30pm) 

  • Monday 10th June - Full time
  • Saturday 15th June - Part Time

All NHS 111 Health Advisors are required to complete a number of NHS Pathways and NHS 111 service specific courses in order to be a licensed operator working within the live service. To train to be a highly trained advisor you will need to be committed to attend one of our training dates (This is paid in full at our training rate of £11.48 per hour). Attending every training day is essential. This is followed by a further eight weeks’ support before you are signed off as a fully accredited/licensed Pathways Health Advisor.
