Handy Person

As our Handy Person, you’ll carry out a variety of minor maintenance and decorative tasks across the hospital. Your work will help maintain a positive and professional space for patients, staff, and visitors. Your responsibilities will include:

• Painting and decorating walls, doors, and other surfaces throughout the hospital
• Preparing surfaces and applying paints, varnishes, and finishes to a high standard
• Carrying out minor repairs and fitting items such as towel holders or rails
• Working safely at heights and in busy, occupied areas
• Liaising with other trades and specifying equipment or materials needed for tasks
• Maintaining awareness of health & safety requirements, including completing any necessary training
• Responding to ad hoc maintenance needs and supporting the wider facilities team as required

With your experience in painting, decorating, and minor fabric maintenance, you will also be:

• Comfortable working independently and able to manage small tasks proactively
• Friendly, approachable, and professional, with a positive attitude
• Flexible and able to adapt to the needs of a busy hospital environment
• Health & safety conscious, particularly when working in patient-occupied areas
• NVQ2 or City & Guilds (6707 or equivalent) in Painting and Decorating – Desirable
• Experience working at height and with associated access equipment – Desirable
• Familiarity with compiling or following risk assessments and method statements – Desirable
• Previous experience in a healthcare or care-based setting - Desirable
