Speech and Language Therapist

As a Speech and Language Therapist, your responsibilities will vary.

• You need expert clinical skills and be able to take a holistic approach to patient centred care.
• Delivering with autonomy a comprehensive speech and language therapy service to your own caseload within the prison, inclusive of a comprehensive specialist assessment and differential diagnosis of all aspects of communication, language, speech, voice, fluency, eating, and drinking for patients referred to the service.
• Provide outstanding evidence based care to our patients, seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback, so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them
• You will provide clinical leadership for Speech and language pathway within the prison.
• Working in a multi-disciplinary team made up of a variety of registered and non-registered professionals including; primary care, mental health, social care, end of life care and substance misuse practitioners.

Qualifications required

• You should be an established speech and language therapist with experience of pathway development and change management
• You will have experience working as a Speech and Language therapist working within a large multi- disciplinary team, ideally across multiple sites/ locations, as well as being Health Professions Council – Licence to Practice.
• The focus is subject expert leadership rather than leading a team and therefore candidates will require excellent partnership building, time management and organisation skills.
•  Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
• Understanding of clinical governance, health and safety, QOF.
