HMP Lewes is based near the centre of the historical town of Lewes, which is just a 5 minute walk away. Whilst one of its first uses was to hold 300 Finnish Grenadiers as part of the Crimean War, it now has an operational capacity of 790 with a mixture of both remand and sentenced prisoners. Aside from working amongst a team of talented individuals, other benefits include cycle to work scheme, access to an onsite gym, free parking and subsidized café/restaurant.
What do our current GP’s say?
“Practice Plus Group embrace continued development of healthcare services in the 40 plus prisons for which they are responsible. One of my favourite things is being able to concentrate on clinical medicine with a really interesting patient group.” – Dr. Alex Griffiths, GP at HMP Doncaster and Regional Medical Lead for Yorkshire.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. The prison population is one of the most vulnerable and challenged patient groups in society and the delivery of their health care is conducted within often difficult and demanding environments.
