About The Role

As a registered health care professional and mental health practitioner you will work in a dual role with nursing colleagues and maintain your own professional identity.

The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to shape and improve the quality of services. The post holder will be responsible for establishing operational and clinical service mechanisms that support safe high-quality care throughout the service care delivery (8-6pm 7 days per week).

As a member of the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT), you will provide flexible, responsive, proactive assessment, care and management to individuals experiencing early signs of relapse, new acute phase mental illness, distress or posing a risk in terms of self-harm. This will include providing group interventions. 

All interventions will be short term; solution- focused and will build on maintaining the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of the service user. The IMHT implements a Single Point of Access (SPA) and an Integrated Mental Health Team structure which provides individualised care as defined by the stepped care model and crisis resolution provision.

The PPG Wellbeing Approach is central to the care delivery The Post-holder will work collaboratively with the prison, primary care and other specialist clinicians to meet the needs of your patients in order to facilitate patient focused, innovative, evidence based practice, in line with NICE guidance and Practice Plus Group objectives.

HMP Leeds is s category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. The Leeds team adopts an inclusive, compassionate and punctilious attitude towards each other and their patients. Leeds is an unpredictable, fast paced environment where care is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shifts will vary depending on the department you work for, we encourage you to contact us for more information.

Progression and development is encouraged and supported, this can be discussed in one of your regular supervisions with your line manager or clinical supervisor.  

There is access to free parking in a secure car park and it is easily accessible from the motorway.  

Our team is built of primary care, mental health, substance misuse and pharmacy who are supported by our clerical team and over seen by the head and deputy head of healthcare.   

About You

- HMP You will be either a registered Mental Health Nurse, Social Worker, or Occupational Therapist and hold a membership with either NMC, HCPC, or Social Work England. A passion for developing your clinical skills in an ever-changing environment is essential.

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!
