About The Role

A fantastic opportunity has opened up with HMP Lindholme for a Staff Nurse to work as part of an integrated, dynamic and friendly nursing team. Every day is different and brings with it a wide range of challenges and opportunities for development.

You will work within a team striving  to provide excellent healthcare provisions within the prison setting. You will work in partnership with other disciplines within the prison helping to rehabilitate and support patients to live decent and purposeful lives both in custody and upon release.

The role will be an experience like no other, requiring diverse nursing skills and background. One minute you could be delivering a nurse led clinic and the next you could be attending an emergency response.

You can expect to be involved in everything from clinical triage, suturing, wound care and fracture clinics to the evaluation and development of patient care and standards. You’ll carry out – and potentially develop – nurse-led clinics, reviewing patient histories, undertaking relevant examinations and tests, organising any necessary treatment and referring patients to other healthcare professionals when
required.

HMP Lindholme is a Category C/D men's prison located near Hatfield Woodhouse in Doncaster and is a former RAF base offering a large open site. They have a hardworking, supportive and friendly team that encourage career progression and further education opportunities.

The team consists of primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy and administration services who all work closely together to provide a holistic approach to patient care. Shift patterns typically run between 07.30 and 19.30

The site offer free onsite parking, free access to an onsite gym and onsite staff diner.

About You

You will have a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

About Us

We’re the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and youth offender establishments.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equal to what you receive in the community. We’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of prisoners by improving their health, securing their wellbeing, and helping to reduce reoffending behaviour.

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to more than 40,000 patients at over 45 prisons of all categories. Prisons are a community like any other and we offer all of the health services any community needs in one place and with a single team. These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy, and optometry.

Please note that this role is subject to Practice Plus Group Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to right to work in the UK, references, an enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.
