About The Role

Are you looking for a new challenge?

Have you thought about working within prison healthcare?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it!

HMP Stocken is based in the beautiful county of Rutland near to Rutland Water. By car it is approximately 20 minutes from Grantham, 30 minutes from Peterborough and Corby and less than an hour from Leicester and Nottingham.

As a qualified registered Mental Health Nurse you'll have a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse (RMN) looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever changing environment.

You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services. Prison Healthcare experience is not essential although we do ask that you have experience within primary care.

What can we offer you?

As a Senior Mental Health Nurse you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team by bringing your clinical skills and passion for care.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £40973.40 per annum FTE depending on experience; cycle to work scheme, uniform, training, development and employee recognition scheme.  We also offer a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time), shopping discounts, free eye tests for computer screen users, an employee assistance helpline and clinical development opportunities.

Other benefits at HMP Stocken include access to an onsite gym, free parking and subsidised café/restaurant.

About Us

Practice Plus Group are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

HMP Stocken is a category C closed training prison, with a capacity of 1069 men.  Practice Plus Group provides a dedicated healthcare service specialising in supporting patients with complex medical requirements, mental health issues and primary care needs.

Healthcare is provided seven days a week, throughout the year. Services include first and second reception screening for new arrivals, triage and phlebotomy and vaccination clinics. Long term condition clinics are a core clinical activity. The role is varied, involving assessing and treating patients and carrying out effective care in an ever changing environment; responding to both their physical and mental well-being needs.

Our team includes GP’s, Clinical Leads, Nurses and HCA’s; emergency care is supported by our paramedic and all our clinical staff are trained to deliver intermediate life support (ILS). Pharmacy is managed by our pharmacist and supported by technicians and assistants.

Please note that this role is subject to Practice Plus Group Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to satisfactory receipt of references, enhanced DBS check and prison vetting.

At Practice Plus Group we actively promote diversity and equal opportunities and we are committed to this in both the running of our prison healthcare service and how we recruit our staff. We actively encourage applications from everyone with the essential requirements of the job, regardless of any protected characteristics.

We are passionate about what we do and our core values are:

∙ We treat patients and each other as we would like to be treated

∙ We act with integrity

∙ We embrace diversity

∙ We strive to do things better together.

If this resonates with you then we’d like to hear from you!
