About The Role

ADD TO LIFE. EVERY LIFE
Where making a difference changes lives

Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing nursing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this could be the opportunity for you.

As an Inpatient Senior Staff Nurse you’ll be an integral part of the senior team at HMP Thameside bringing your well-developed clinical skills, passion for care and leadership skills to the role. You will be leading from the front, keeping your skills sharp by delivering some clinics directly, and developing knowledge within the team to continually improve the care for patients.

This is a leadership role and with your team leaders, you will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication, and competence. The role will include providing support and mentorship; drawing the best from our staff and improving the quality of care received by patients.

The role is based within the Inpatient Healthcare Unit (IHU) at HMP Thameside. The IHU is a 24 hour service providing care to prisoners with both mental and physical health problems, minor surgery, medical, rehabilitation/post-operative care and palliative care. The Unit also provides a safe environment for the stabilisation and detoxification of prisoners with substance misuse problems.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse (RMN/Adult), NMC qualified and will have evidence of continued professional development throughout your clinical career thus far. Having an understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working, coupled with a non-judgmental and compassionate approach will enable you to succeed in this role, as well as a proactive approach to problem solving.

Interested in clinical development?

We have a wide range of opportunities for you to develop your skills and your career, which include both internal and external options for development and learning and access to our apprenticeship schemes.

How will we support you?
• Bespoke induction, including our Introducing Health in Justice training course
