About The Role

New ways to improve the patient experience

We are looking for a Healthcare Assistant to join team in our UTC department at Southampton Hospital to support the professional staff with the overall responsibility for all patients in the outpatient department.

As a Health Care Assistant in our Southampton team you will be responsible for assisting the nursing team with patient care, keeping records, stock control, equipment maintenance and maintaining the cleanliness of the department. Above all, you have a natural ability to help make the lives of others more fulfilling and want to work in an environment where the work can be hard, but also fun and rewarding.

As a valued member of the team, your duties with consist of welcoming/greeting patients to the ward area, answering the telephone, recording and delivering messages accurately and to the appropriate person. Assisting in the ordering and monitoring of stores and stock rotation and support other members of the multi-disciplinary team.

About You

Having already obtained your NVQ level 2 in health and social care. There will be plenty of further learning opportunities including internal and external training modules if desired. It would be an advantage if you have worked in acute healthcare environment. More important though is your flexibility, your knowledge of infection control, belief in teamwork and your ability to use your initiative, follow instructions and prioritise a busy workload.

The ideal applicant will have

  • Have already achieved NVQ 2 in health and social care 
  • Experience or a good understanding of a HCA duties and responsibilities 
  • The ability to receive and communicate information accurately and take instruction from professional colleagues.
  • Someone with the flexibility to fit into internal rotating shift pattern.
