We have an exciting opportunity for a General Practitioner to join our team at HMP Isle of Wight. HMP Isle of Wight is a category B male training prison. Located on a small island, and is around 8 minutes from St Mary’s Hospital and 26 minutes away from Cowes Ferry Terminal.

You will be working closely with the on site Lead GP, GP’s and ANP’s to deliver care to around 1100 patients. This role would suit a GP who is looking to delivery end to end care, a large proportion of the patients have long term conditions and polypharmacy needs including cardiac, diabetes and asthma care. There is specific admin time built into the role with around 60% of time being patients facing.

Hours

Core hours of operation are – 07:30 -17:30

Salary

This position is full time 40 hours a week, you’ll receive an annual salary up to £120,000 per annum depending on experience.

During my GP training the part which I enjoyed the most was the out-of-hours (OOH) element with Harmoni (which later became Care UK, now the Practice Plus Group). With no administrative tasks, bloods to file, documents to check, it was as close to the acute care as a GP could get. I was very well supported by Practice Plus Group during this time and was able to excel and make a mark.
