About The Role

A Patient Safety Partner (PSP) is actively involved in the design of safer healthcare at all levels in the organisation. This includes roles in safety governance – e.g. sitting on relevant committees to support compliance monitoring and how safety issues should be addressed and providing appropriate challenge to ensure learning and change – and in the development and implementation of relevant strategy and policy. The PSP should ensure that any committee/group of which they are a member considers and prioritises the service user, patient, carer and family perspective and champions a diversity of views. Further detail on specific roles is provided in individual task descriptions. These include the time commitment for specific roles and frequency of meetings where appropriate. The PSP will need to comply with relevant policies and maintain strict confidentiality in respect to discussions and information when required.

The role is voluntary (although reasonable expenses will be reimbursed) and the types of involvement can vary according to skills, experience and the amount of time you would like to commit.  The role is for a fixed term of 18 months in the first instance, with the opportunity to extend.

About You

Practice Plus Group Secondary Care Service is recruiting a number of part-time Patient Safety Partners (PSPs) as part of its commitment to involving patients and the public in patient safety.  PSPs provide a different perspective on patient safety and reinforce the patient voice at all levels in the organisation.  PSPs support a patient-centred approach to safer healthcare

About Us

Practice Plus Group was founded as Care UK in 1982 and rebranded in 2020. Today our secondary care healthcare services include hospitals and surgical centres (treating both NHS and private patients), urgent treatment centres and clinical assessment and diagnostics facilities. We are also proud to deliver one of the country’s leading ophthalmology services.

We work with the NHS to take healthcare services closer to where people live and work – increasing the efficiency and quality of the services we deliver and helping to reduce waiting times – but also provide fast, high-quality hospital treatment to patients who wish to self-fund or use private health insurance.

We assess, diagnose and treat more than one million patients every year. In 2011 our hospitals ranked highest in an independent national rating of the best performing hospitals for both knee replacement and hip replacement operations, and we were the first provider to achieve a clean sweep of ‘Good’ and ‘Outstanding’ CQC ratings for all secondary care services.
