About The Role

ADD TO LIFE. EVERY LIFE
Where making a difference changes lives

Secure environments are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work. If you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this could be the opportunity for you.

As a Mental Healthcare Assistant, you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team by bringing your top-notch skills and passion for care. Assisting the registered practitioner in the risk assessment and delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.

You'll support patients to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times. Within the role you'll bring your proven mental health experience to this role, assisting with the delivery of mental healthcare needs, including health promotion. There are great opportunities for training and development and the opportunity to work with interesting patients and learn new skills.

About You

To be successful in the role you will have experience of working within a Primary Care setting, including GP surgeries, hospitals and working within a multi-disciplinary team. Having excellent communication and interpersonal skills are a must.

You’ll hold an NVQ 2/3 in Health and Social Care and must have a willingness to undertake training in Mental Health Awareness, suicide prevention, self-harm, and ACCT procedures as well as Health Promotion and screening.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £23,000 per annum - depending on experience. We offer a whole host of additional benefits such as: cycle to work scheme, free DBS check, free uniform, an extensive training and development structure for all employees along with an employee recognition scheme.

It doesn’t stop there… we also offer a company pension scheme which we as Practice Plus Group also pay into, 25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time), NHS blue light card, discounted Costco memberships, access to Boundless memberships for attractions and parks, shopping discounts, free eye tests for computer screen users, an 24/7 employee assistance helpline and financial assistance when you need it.
