As a Mental Health Nurse working within the team at HMP Whatton you will provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system and manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment.
 
You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made. You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment. 
 
You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment.
 

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing are desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £44,000 per annum - depending on experience.
