About The Role

Have you thought about working within prison healthcare?

You will be providing outstanding evidence based case to our patients seeking out, listening to and acting on their feedback so that care is personalised and informed by what matters to them. You will contribute to and implement care packages, assist with health promotion, well-being and clinics as well as assisting patients with activities of daily living and personal care.

Throughout this position, you will deliver non-judgemental care involving anything from health promotion clinics and observations to supporting the nursing and pharmacy teams in primary care within healthcare centres and on wings and house blocks. You’ll make a real difference as defined throughout our bespoke Health in Justice Competency Framework following our policies, procedures and always considering safeguarding.

About You

You will be a qualified Nursing Associate who can demonstrate entry to the NMC register with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing as some of your responsibilities will include completing wing medication rounds, primary care clinics and emergency response. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

We offer opportunities to develop in to a specialist role of your interest which in turn benefits the service. Examples include ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

You’ll receive an annual salary of up to £25, 750 per annum - depending on experience; free DBS check, free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. As well as a number of benefits including a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time) plus other benefits including cycle to work scheme and clinical development opportunities.

From October 2022, we will be the recognised provider of 52 different prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres. HMP Eastwood Park is a women's closed prison, located in the village of Falfield in South Gloucestershire with a maximum of 442 adult women. HMP Eastwood Park is based 17 miles north of Bristol, 20 miles south of Gloucester, 30 miles west from Cirencester and 30 miles east from Newport in South Wales with good transport links via the M5 and the A38 and ample free staff parking. 


Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Eastwood Park and will begin delivering services in October 2022. Our Wellbeing Approach is an integrated, comprehensive model of care that recognises women in prison often require specific health and wellbeing interventions that take account of their gender as well as their individual circumstances and needs.
