About The Role

As a Senior Mental Health Practitioner working within the team at HMP Onley you will provide a holistic package of care to patients within the prison system and manage the assessment of health needs, planning, delivery and evaluation of care, for the prison population, including clinical risk assessment. You will ensure that you assess physical and mental health of prisoners on admission to the prison and throughout their period of custody so that any appropriate referral can be made. You will also be responsible for making a clinical judgement with regard to any immediate need and long term treatment. 

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health), Paramedic, Social Worker or Occupational Therapist with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing are desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

You’ll receive an annual salary £36,500 per annum - depending on experience; free DBS check, free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. As well as a number of benefits including a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time) plus other benefits including cycle to work scheme and clinical development opportunities.

HM Prison Onley is a Category C men's training prison with an operational capacity of 710 prisoners. HMP Onley is based next to HMP Rye Hill and is located in the village of Barby, Northamptonshire. HMP Onley is situated just over 5 miles south of Rugby and 5 miles north of Daventry with good transport links from Coventry and Northampton.
