About The Role

I help to make a difference!

Are you collaborative, caring and compassionate?

Practice Plus Group are Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes.

It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

To ensure the continued quality of care at HMP New Hall we are looking for a Senior Mental Health Practitioner to support us and the existing team.

HMP New Hall is a Closed Category prison for female adults, juveniles and young offenders located in Flockton, West Yorkshire.

The site consist of departments offering healthcare support across primary care, mental health, substance misuse, pharmacy, psychology & psychiatry, opticians, podiatry, physiotherapy, dental services and a management and admin function.

Within your role you will be joining a large team which is motivated to achieving the very best in health in justice. The team are integrated and work closely as an MDT to achieve the best outcomes for their patient group. Staff have the opportunity to be innovative and lead on key areas such as BBV, health promotion and long term conditions.

HMP New Hall pride themselves in supporting the workforce to develop their skillset. Staff members receive regular supervision and an annual appraisal to explore their existing skillset and look at how the site can support them further within their role to develop. This includes ad hoc training, university or college courses and prescribing courses where appropriate.

About You

What will you be doing?

As a registered health care professional and mental health practitioner you will work in a dual role with nursing colleagues and maintain your own professional identity.

The post holder will provide strong clinical leadership, ensuring evidence-based practice is delivered to shape and improve the quality of services. The post holder will be responsible for establishing operational and clinical service mechanisms that support safe high-quality care throughout the service care delivery.

As a member of the Integrated Mental Health Team (IMHT), you will provide flexible, responsive, proactive assessment, care and management to individuals experiencing early signs of relapse, new acute phase mental illness, distress or posing a risk in terms of self-harm. This will include providing group interventions.

All interventions will be short term; solution- focused and will build on maintaining the safety, wellbeing and empowerment of the service user. The IMHT implements a Single Point of Access (SPA) and an Integrated Mental Health Team structure which provides individualised care as defined by the stepped care model and crisis resolution provision.

This is a part time role working 22.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to £42,000 per annum FTE pro rata - dependent on experience.
