About The Role

Have you thought about working within prison healthcare?
Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day in an environment that never stands still, then this is it!

As a Registered General Nurse (Adult), you’ll be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team by bringing your top-notch clinical skills and passion for care.

With plenty of primary care experience, you could be involved in anything from undertaking a wide variety of screening, assessments, examinations, and tests as well as answering emergency bells and potentially being the first person to attend an emergency. The main focus of this role will be to provide quality screening and assessment with the early days in the custody patient cohort. We require a nurse who has excellent holistic assessment as well as being able to demonstrate accurate and detailed recording skills within a fast-paced multi-disciplinary environment. Your clinical assessment skills will be truly holistic, covering physical and mental health, as well as a good awareness of substance misuse issues.

About You

As a Registered General Nurse (Adult) you’ll be an integral part of the multi-disciplinary healthcare team by bringing your top-notch clinical skills and passion for care. You will be eager to learn and develop, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services. Prison Healthcare experience is not essential although we do ask that you have experience within primary care.

Interested in clinical development?
We offer opportunities to develop in to a specialist role of your interest which in turn benefits the service. Examples include ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long term condition courses.

How will we support you?
• Bespoke induction
• Competency framework
• Regional and national career development opportunities
• Our bespoke Learning Management System to address your learning needs
• Support from the wider team

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £43,890 per annum - depending on experience. We offer a whole host of additional benefits such as: cycle to work scheme, free DBS check, free uniform, an extensive training and development structure for all employees along with an employee recognition scheme.

It doesn’t stop there… we also offer a company pension scheme which we as Practice Plus Group also pay into, 25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time), NHS blue light card, discounted Costco memberships, access to Boundless memberships for attractions and parks, shopping discounts, free eye tests for computer screen users, an 24/7 employee assistance helpline and financial assistance when you need it.
