About The Role

Looking for something different!
A new opportunity has arisen for a Substance Misuse Nurse role in HMP Wormwood Scrubs.
This is a unique opportunity to provide nursing care within the Prison setting. The post involves working within an establishment that has five main wings A – E plus a number of smaller units, a First Night Centre, a Healthcare Centre and a Drug Detox Unit.
 
As a Substance Misuse Nurse you will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team, whilst being a support and resource to other staff. You must be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. 
You will work with individuals, on a 1-1 basis, providing advice and information. You will support in group work delivery and liaise with prescribers and Recovery Practitioners on clinical interventions. You will be required to support dispensing and attend medical emergencies. You must have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach. This is an exciting role to support and motivate individuals to take control of their lives and to make changes to overcome dependence on substances and move onto a life free of offending. 
You will also be working as part of a larger multi-disciplinary team, alongside the substance misuse and mental health teams. There are great opportunities for training and development and the opportunity to work with interesting patients and learn new skills.

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse – Adult / Mental Health (RGN) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

We also offer preceptorship support for newly qualified RGN/RMN nurses.

In return for your hard work you will...
You’ll receive an annual salary £36, 856 per annum - depending on experience; free DBS check, free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support. As well as a number of benefits including a company pension scheme, 25 days annual leave, increasing with service up to 28 days per year, plus 8 public bank holidays, other benefits including cycle to work scheme and clinical development opportunities.

This is a full-time role working 37.5 hours per week on a salary of up to £36,856 -depending on experience. 

Healthcare operates 7 days a week, and shifts include long / short days, nights and weekend rotation.
