About The Role

Your unfaltering dedication to quality is something you are very proud of; like us, you constantly strive to do things better for your patients. This ethos has led to you having a customer focused approach at all times when dealing with patients as part of a caring medical team. If you are an innovative individual who would like to support a world class service, we would like to hear from you.

Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet is a purely elective care hospital, focusing on orthopaedics, ophthalmology, general surgery, ENT, urology and Gynaecology. In 2016, it was the first independent sector hospital to be rated Outstanding by the CQC*.

Our orthopaedic unit is a positive outlier for outcomes after hip and knee replacement in the latest National PROMs study, and has been so for the past three years.

According to recent UK national joint registry (NJR) data we perform more than 1300 joint replacement surgical procedures per year.

As a highly valued member of our professional, friendly and compassionate team you will perform orthopaedic surgical procedures on patients referred to the hospital. Duties will include pre-operative, intra-operative and post-operative activities.

You will have full and specialist GMC registration as well as wide training in and experience of working in orthopaedic surgery. You will be required to demonstrate a high level of operative skill in at least one of the following areas:

Primary hip replacement
Primary knee replacement
Arthroscopic procedures (other than ACLs)
Other minor procedures

As UK registered medical professional, we will also support you with your ongoing CPD and medical career development.
