An opportunity has arisen for the right candidate to be part of continuing developments in healthcare provision within HMP Winchester.

The Porter post is a varied role, undertaking a range of delegated portering duties, including unloading, delivery of stock, and any other general tasks required across Prison Healthcare Service at HMP Winchester
We are looking for individuals who are keen to take on roles with varied duties, supporting the delivery of excellent healthcare to prisoners. You will need to have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and demonstrate the ability to work as a team member.

The candidate will be expected to undertake tasks across a variety of areas within the prison. The role demands a vast amount of physical activity including walking and carrying of loads.
The successful applicant will join an enthusiastic and collaborative team looking after the overall health needs of a population of around 690 prisoners.
It is essential that candidates have a full driving license (with no outstanding endorsements).

HMP Winchester is a Category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts. With an operational capacity of 690, HMP Winchester is based in Winchester, Hampshire; by car, it’s approximately 20 minutes from Eastleigh, 25 minutes from Southampton, 30 minutes from Andover, Basingstoke, and Newbury, and 45 minutes from Salisbury. On foot, it’s a 20-minute walk from Winchester town centre and 15 minutes’ walk from Winchester train station.
