About The Role

We are currently looking for a GP to commit to working a Thursday at HMP Leeds including the evening reception period where needed. This will include a shadowing period to ensure you feel confident with meeting the needs of our population.

We recognise training and development is key within any role, therefore we facilitate training specialised for your needs and offer a full induction package to ensure you are equipped for your new position with us. You will gain insight and training in Mental Health and Substance Misuse. If you are new to offender health, we will create a suitable induction package to ensure you are equipped for this exciting role. In this environment, we appreciate flexibility around working hours hence we are willing to accommodate part-time requests.

We offer a competitive annual salary plus payment of MDU/MPS subscription and CPD days. Furthermore, should you wish there are plenty of opportunities for extra shifts and overtime. HMP Leeds is is category B men’s prison based in Leeds, Yorkshire. The Leeds team adopts an inclusive, compassionate and punctilious attitude towards each other and their patients. Leeds is an unpredictable, fast paced environment where care is provided 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. Shifts will vary depending on the department you work for, we encourage you to contact us for more information. Progression and development is encouraged and supported, this can be discussed in one of your regular supervisions with your line manager or clinical supervisor. There is access to free parking in a secure car park and it is easily accessible from the motorway. Our team is built of primary care, mental health, substance misuse and pharmacy who are supported by our clerical team and over seen by the head and deputy head of healthcare.

About You

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities. It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.

 
MBChB or MBBS qualified, you’ll be registered with the GMC and on a PCT Medical Performers List. RCGP1 part 1 is desirable.
 
This role will be working 12 hours per week/3 sessions with an annual salary of up to £112, 200 pro rata depending on experience. Whilst there are specific hours required for this post, we are still welcoming interested from prospective applicants who are looking for more hours/sessions.
