HMP Long Lartin is a High Security Prison holding adult men. There is an 8 bed dedicated healthcare unit, including End of Life Facilities.
Health in Justice deliver Healthcare in a Prison setting comparable with a Community GP Practice. There are Primary care and Mental health nursing staff, Healthcare assistants, recovery workers and administrators all on site.
Additionally other clinicians attend the Prison to deliver care such as the Dentist, Physio, Podiatrist, Optician, Psychologist, Psychiatrist
What will you be doing?
As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis for the Patient’s, They will recommend clinical pathways, refer to external Health providers, make timely decisions regarding future management and support the aim of improving access to Health for this Patient group. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance and NHS effectiveness activities.
It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.

This position will be required to work 6 sessions over 3 days, details of which can be discussed at interview.
HMP Long Lartin offers free car parking, an onsite Gym with a reduced membership rate. You also have access to an onsite café for lunch. You will gain the opportunity to work with an experienced Health in Justice GP as part of the induction process.
