About The Role

Looking for something different?

Gatwick Immigration Removal Centre is a detention centre based in the grounds of Gatwick Airport, Crawley, West Sussex and we are looking for a Senior Mental Health Nurse to join our team.

As a Senior Nurse, you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making, and problem-solving skills to provide skilled and evidence-based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Practice Plus Group service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance, and ethics for nurses and midwives.

You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff. If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously and show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, this could be the right role for you!

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

In return for your hard work you will...

Receive an annual salary of up to £42,500 depending on experience. You'll also get several benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave – increasing with service up to 28 days + 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time) plus other benefits including cycle to work scheme and other Practice Plus Group perks schemes.

We’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of prisoners by improving their health, securing their wellbeing, and helping to reduce reoffending behaviour.

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to more than 40,000 patients at over 45 prisons of all categories. Prisons are a community like any other and we offer all of the health services any community needs in one place and with a single team. These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy, and optometry.
