As a Senior Nurse, you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making, and problem-solving skills to provide skilled and evidence-based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Practice Plus Group and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance, and ethics for nurses and midwives.
You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff. In return for your hard work you will...
The full-time role will be working 37.5 hours per week. The salary for this role is up to £44,000 FTE per annum - dependent on experience.
You'll also get a number of benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave increasing with service up to 28 days per year + bank holiday, a contributory pension scheme, plus CPD and re-validation support.

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.
You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

We could give you the opportunity to develop into a specialist role of your interest and benefit to the service i.e. CBT, ANP, BBV, sexual health, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, substance misuse, prescribing, and long term condition.

HMP Winchester is a Category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts. With an operational capacity of 690, HMP Winchester is based in Winchester, Hampshire; by car, it’s approximately 20 minutes from Eastleigh, 25 minutes from Southampton, 30 minutes of Andover, Basingstoke, and Newbury, and 45 minutes from Salisbury. On foot, it’s a 20 minute walk from Winchester town centre and 15 minutes walk from Winchester train station.
