Due to our expanding healthcare services at HMP Exeter, we are looking for a Deputy Head of Healthcare to join the team at HMP YOI Exeter. This role presents an exciting opportunity to develop as a healthcare leader within a unique setting.

As the Deputy Head of Healthcare, you will be responsible for the effective day-to-day operational management of all clinical services across the prison. You will manage service level agreements, ensuring performance-monitoring standards are adhered to and the highest standards of care are maintained. You will also be responsible for ensuring compliance with the essential standards of quality and safety.

We are looking for an innovative individual with a passion for service development to building on the existing clinical services. Working closely with the clinical team you will have the opportunity to work autonomously in the assessment of patients and to implement evidence-based practice.

Working with adults with a range of mental health and physical health needs can be challenging but also very rewarding. Multi-disciplinary team working is essential in this environment to ensure safe, effective, caring, responsive, and well-led healthcare service delivery to which the role of Deputy Head of Healthcare is key.

Patient engagement and co-production are central to the services that we deliver at HMYOI Exeter. As the Deputy Head of Healthcare, you will work closely with the patient engagement liaison to support the delivery of our patient engagement strategy.

You will also be deputising for the Head of Healthcare in their absence and supporting them across the range of their duties.
 
So what do we have to offer?
Receive an annual salary of up to £51,500 - depending on experience. You will also get several benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave - increasing with service to 28 days, 8 public bank holidays plus CPD, and re-validation support.

About You

You will have a clinical registration, be able to provide evidence of your leadership ability and will have undertaken management training, with an understanding of clinical governance and staff management. You will have an awareness of risk assessment and managing budgets.

The role would ideally suit an individual who is passionate about delivering and driving forward high standards of care and service delivery.

Ability to promote and inspire the workforce through robust clinical supervision and professional development

 HMP YOI Exeter is an adult/young prisoners institution accepting males ages 18 and over; with an operational capacity of 550+. It accepts all adult and young prisoners committed to prison by the courts from Cornwall, Devon, Dorset & West Somerset.
