As the Psychiatrist for HMP Winchester, you’ll provide dynamic leadership of the mental health profession across these services. You will be pivotal in engaging the mental health workforce to support the delivery of the organisation’s objectives, ensuring the provision of an effective high quality mental health workforce within the available resources.

As the Psychiatrist, you’ll support the Regional manager in shaping the policies and strategies for developing and modernising mental health practice across the sites in order to ensure high quality, safe and appropriate healthcare services for our patients.
 
In return for your hard work you will...
Receive an annual salary of up to £165,000 FTE per annum pro-rata - depending on experience, working 24 hours per week.
You'll also get a number of benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave plus 8 public bank holidays pro-rata, plus CPD and study leave. FTE equates to 40 hours per week.

About You

Registered professional with current registration (GMC)
Specialist Registration in either General Adult or Forensic Psychiatry
Evidence of Continued Professional Development
Approved under section 12 (2) of the MHS 1983
Understanding of the complexities of multi-disciplinary and multi-agency working
Up to date knowledge in the adult psychiatry and PD
Excellent communication skills with patients to understand their needs
Awareness of current issues in mental health service provision, policy and legislation
A non-judgmental and compassionate approach
Good IT skills and IT literacy
Knowledge of healthcare policies and best practice
Proactive problem solving skills
Flexible attitude to working arrangements
Motivated as an individual and when working in a team
Ability to work within a busy environment
Willing to learn and develop by being committed to self-development

HMP Winchester is a category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts. With an operational capacity of 690, HMP Winchester is based in Winchester, Hampshire; by car it’s approximately 20 minutes from Eastleigh, 25 minutes from Southampton, 30 minutes of Andover, Basingstoke and Newbury and 45 minutes from Salisbury. On foot, it’s a 20 minute walk from Winchester town centre and 15 minutes’ walk from Winchester train station.
