About The Role

As a Senior Nurse, you will work as part of an integrated healthcare team, utilising your clinical expertise, decision making, and problem-solving skills to provide skilled and evidence-based nursing care for patients in the prison. You will work within your scope of practice, in accordance with Practice Plus Group and prison service policies and procedures in line with the NMC Code of professional conduct, performance, and ethics for nurses and midwives.

You'll be responsible for leading and developing a team providing clinical supervision to all staff. About You

You will be a qualified Registered Nurse (Mental Health) with a real passion for developing your clinical skills in an environment that is ever-changing. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

You should possess a good working knowledge of conducting risk assessments and care planning as well as someone who is creative and forward-thinking to work through the issues that may arise in this challenging but exciting environment. Knowledge in therapeutic interventions such as CBT or Steps to Wellbeing is desirable but transferable clinical skills will be considered with appropriate training provided.

You’ll receive an annual salary up to £39,500 per annum - depending on experience. About Us

Practice Plus Group is a specialist provider of NHS services into prison healthcare across over 45 different prisons, young offenders and immigration removal centres. HMP Isle of Wight is a category B prison that is based over 2 sites Albany and Parkhurst and has a population of 1100 prisoners. Our two sites-based Primary Healthcare Centres provide a comprehensive primary care service, GP appointments, chronic disease nurse-led clinics, screening programmes, and health promotion work. An emergency response service to prison wings is also provided.
