About The Role

Perhaps you want to broaden your clinical experience as part of a portfolio career?

Perhaps you need the freedom of more flexible hours? Perhaps you just relish a new challenge?

We have fantastic opportunities for General Practitioners in Brighton to join our multi-disciplinary teams at Brighton Practice and Walk in Centre or at HMP Lewes.

What is it like to work in our Practice and Walk-In Centre?

This is the perfect chance to use and develop all your skills and expertise as a General Practitioner, providing diagnosis, treatment, advice and referrals to other healthcare resources, via primary care centres and home visits. You will also use our electronic prescribing system to effectively manage the patient.

Based in our services across Brighton, you will be working autonomously within your sphere of competency as a lead clinician in a multi-skilled team that includes advanced nurse practitioners, registered nurses, UCPs, mental health and dental nurses, prescribing pharmacists and pharmacy advisors.

The Brighton Practice and Walk in Centre is open 7 days per week between 8am and 8pm. We have a mixture of Full and Part time position with a mixture of variable hours available.

We can offer this role as either permanent, bank or self-employed.

What is it like to work in our prison healthcare team?

Prison GPs see a broad range of undifferentiated pathology, made more complex by limited accessing of healthcare services before entering prison. This makes medicine within a prison very interesting and gives opportunities to see conditions that are rarely seen in mainstream general practice. GPs see patients in clinic in the same way as any other general practice and are responsible for looking at blood results, diagnostics results and scanned letters etc. In addition to this our GPs engage with the multi-professional complex case clinic where complex patients are discussed and case managers allocated to support their care.

We are proud of our strong, stable infrastructure that ensures clinical safety and provides senior-level clinical support. You’ll be able to keep your skills up to date with a CPD programme – and can expect education and training tailored to your needs and future plans. We work closely with the NHS to provide opportunities to learn, innovate and contribute new ideas. In addition to our bespoke Learning Management System, we offer discounted national update/clinical topic refreshers, support to become a supervisor/GP registrar trainer, plus a host of regional and national career development opportunities.

We can offer this role on either a permanent or bank basis based on 4 hour sessions.

About You

We want our team members to feel motivated and rewarded. So we offer a competitive package of pay and benefits. We also recognise the value of a healthy work-life balance – so we always try to be flexible, helping you fit your working life around your home life.

If you are a General Practitioner with GMC Registration, inclusion on the GP Performer’s List and a valid CCT – we’d love to hear from you! Please contact us directly by email: and we will be in touch with you as soon as possible to discuss the role in more detail.
