About The Role

Have you ever considered working in a prison environment before? Perhaps the idea feels daunting. Working within the Healthcare team at HMP Lewes is an opportunity to work holistically, and to provide exceptional care with kindness and compassion.

The main focus of the work will be to provide a dispensary and wing-based clinical pharmacy service and work with the Lead Pharmacist on providing medicines management support to a number of different wings.

You'll be responsible for the provision and delivery of an integrated, safe, legal, high-quality prison pharmaceutical service. Working closely with the Head of Healthcare and the multidisciplinary team, you'll be responsible for ensuring that the provision of service meets the contractual obligations.

The role also involves responsibility for providing daily expert advice on pharmaceutical matters and ensuring that a safe but modern medicines management service is provided to prisoners.

About You

You will be a qualified Registered Pharmacist- BSc or Master’s Degree in Pharmacy, holding registration with the General Pharmaceutical Council. You will have a real passion for developing your Pharmaceutical skills and those of your team. You’ll have a flexible approach to working within a team that encourages new ideas.

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

Experience of working in a secure environment would be beneficial but not essential.

Receive an annual salary of up to £40,000 (pro-rata) per annum DOE. You'll also get several benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual - increasing with service up to 28 days per year + bank holidays, CPD, and re-validation support.

HMP Lewes is a local category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts as well as those who have been sentenced and those awaiting release. With an operational capacity of 692, HMP Lewes is based in Lewes in East Sussex, within the South Downs National Park. It’s approximately 25 minutes from Brighton and Hove, 35 minutes from Eastbourne and Worthing by car.

This is a part-time role working 15 hours per week (2 days per week) from 8:00 - 16:00 two days a week - flexible with days (no weekends).
