About The Role

Looking for your next Nursing career move?

As a Senior Registered Nurse you’ll be an integral part of the senior team at HMP Isle of Wight, bringing your well-developed clinical skills, passion for care, and leadership skills to the role. You will be leading from the front, keeping your skills sharp by delivering some clinics directly and developing knowledge within the team to continually improve the care for patients.

This is a leadership role and with your team leaders, you will model a culture of compassion, care, courage, commitment, communication, and competence. The role will include providing support and mentorship; drawing the best from our staff and improving the quality of care received by patients.

As the Senior Nurse you will be innovative, bringing fresh ideas and solutions to the challenges of proving healthcare in a prison that is also changing its focus to a remand and resettlement prison; you will see men at the beginning and end of their time in prisons, both are times of transition in the community and require a coordinated approach to continuity of care with other services.

About You

You will be a Registered Nurse (RGN) looking to develop your current skills in a unique and ever changing environment.

You will have a passion for learning and development, as well as having the initiative to bring new ideas and opinions on how to improve the healthcare services. Prison Healthcare experience is not essential although we do ask that you have experience within primary care.

In return for your hard work you will...

Receive an annual salary of up to £37,500 - dependent on experience. You'll also get a number of benefits including a company contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave rising up to 28 days in line with service plus 8 public bank holidays. Other benefits include cycle to work scheme plus training and clinical development opportunities.

Interested in development?
We offer opportunities to develop into a specialist role of your interest which in turn benefits the service. Examples include ANP, BBV, CBT, sexual health, plastering, ILS (intermediate life support), health promotion, phlebotomy, vaccinations, suturing, wound care, RCGP, and long-term condition courses. As well as team and manager essentials training.

About Us

At HMP Isle of Wight, we have two Primary Healthcare Centres sites that provide a comprehensive primary care service, GP appointments, chronic disease nurse-led clinics, screening programmes, and health promotion work. An emergency response service to prison wings is also provided within the working core day 07.30-17.30, seven days a week.

We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. When you’re part of the

Practice Plus Group team, you don’t just have a job. You have a career. We work with you to help you grow in your role and take your career in the direction you want to go. If you want to move up the ladder, we’ll support you. If you just want to stay in your role, that’s fine too. We’ll help you be the best you can be.

We want our team members to feel motivated and rewarded. So we offer a competitive package of pay and benefits including free DBS check, free uniform, free mandatory training, indemnity cover, CPD and re-validation support, 25 days annual leave rising up to 28 days depending on service plus 8 public bank holidays (pro-rata for part-time), plus other benefits including cycle to work scheme and clinical development opportunities.

We are passionate about what we do and our core values are:

∙ We treat patients and each other as we would like to be treated
∙ We act with integrity
∙ We embrace diversity
∙ We strive to do things better together.

If this resonates with you then we’d like to hear from you!

Please note that this role is subject to Practice Plus Group Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to right to work in the UK, references, an enhanced DBS check, and prison vetting.

From 1st April 2022, it will be a legal requirement for all healthcare workers who have direct face to face contact with patients to be vaccinated with an approved COVID19 vaccine.
