As a Mental Health Support Worker, you’ll be an integral part of the healthcare team by bringing your top-notch skills and passion for care. Assisting the registered practitioner in the risk assessment and delivery of immediate and, where appropriate, ongoing care for patients referred to the mental health team.
You'll support patients to access care and treatment appropriately within the prison setting, working independently with lone working at times. As a Mental Health Support Worker, you'll bring your proven mental health experience to this role, assisting with the delivery of mental healthcare needs, including health promotion. There are great opportunities for training and development and the opportunity to work with interesting patients and learn new skills.

About You

We are on the lookout for Mental Health Support Workers who have experience of working within a Primary Care setting, including GP surgeries and hospitals. You will also have experience working in a multi-disciplinary team and have excellent communication skills.
You’ll hold an NVQ 2/3 in Health and Social Care and must have a willingness to undertake training in Mental Health Awareness, suicide prevention, self-harm, and ACCT procedures as well as Health Promotion and screening/

Receive an annual salary of up to £21,000 (FTE) per annum - dependent on experience.

HMP YOI Portland is based on the Isle of Portland off the coast of Weymouth. It is approximately 7 miles from the centre of Weymouth. The prison is a category C adult /young offender’s prison and houses up to 530 prisoners, all with varying sentence lengths.

More Information

This is a part-time role working 19 hours per week (2 days) from 07:30 – 18:00, covering weekends on rotation.
