About The Role

Break into prison healthcare!

Have you ever thought about working within the prison environment?

Then look no further…

We are currently seeking Bank Substance Misuse Practitioner at HMP Lewes; a category B men’s prison located within the South Downs National Park. It’s approximately 25 minutes from Brighton and Hove, 35 minutes from Eastbourne and Worthing by car.
Working as a Bank Substance Misuse Practitioner offers you flexibility and workplace variety. You would also be assisting the wider permanent team, covering for planned and unplanned absences.

As a Substance Misuse Practitioner, you must be able to carry out comprehensive assessments, initiate and review individual recovery plans and confidently communicate the full range of treatment options available to service users. You must have an understanding and commitment to recovery and a person centred approach. Across everything you do, you’ll maintain accurate records and provide the kind of helpful, empathetic support that will make every patient feel at ease.

About You

We are seeking individuals from a range of backgrounds and these may include but are not limited to the following DANOS recognised qualification and/or substantial knowledge and experience of Substance Misuse. With the ability to work autonomously; with sound clinical/substance misuse knowledge. We’ll want to see evidence of your continued professional development, and a real passion for taking your skills even further.

It goes without saying that you’ll have a solid understanding of health and safety, along with exemplary record keeping skills. Self-motivated, you’ll show plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations. Beyond that, you should have a flexible approach and the ability to achieve changing priorities.

About Us

We’re the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and youth offender establishments.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equal to what you receive in the community. We’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of prisoners by improving their health, securing their well-being, and helping to reduce re-offending behaviour.

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to more than 40,000 patients at over 45 prisons of all categories. Prisons are a community like any other and we offer all of the health services any community needs in one place and with a single team. These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy, and optometry.

Please note that this role is subject to Practice Plus Group Terms & Conditions and offers of employment are subject to right to work in the UK, references, an enhanced DBS check, and prison vetting.
