About Us

HMP Lewes is a local category B men’s prison for those on remand to local courts as well as those who have been sentenced and those awaiting release. With an operational capacity of 692, HMP Lewes is based in Lewes in East Sussex, within the South Downs National Park. It’s approximately 25 minutes from Brighton and Hove, 35 minutes from Eastbourne and Worthing by car.

We’re the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and youth offender establishments.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equal to what you receive in the community.
