About Us

HMP The Verne is a 580 place prison for people on longer sentences who have been convicted of sexual offences. The population reflects the offender group with an older age of patient compared with other prisons. Patients are more likely to have long-term healthcare needs and many have experienced childhood trauma.

We’re the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and youth offender establishments.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equal to what you receive in the community. We’re passionate about making a difference in the lives of prisoners by improving their health, securing their wellbeing, and helping to reduce reoffending behaviour.

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to more than 40,000 patients at over 45 prisons of all categories. Prisons are a community like any other and we offer all of the health services any community needs in one place and with a single team. These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy, and optometry.

More information
This is a permanent full-time role, working 37.5 hours across the week, however, we also welcome part-time applications.

Please note that offers of employment are subject to Practice Plus Group Terms and Conditions and receipt of satisfactory references, enhanced DBS check, and prison vetting (arranged locally by the prison).
