About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for an Orthopaedic Clinical Fellow to work with us at Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet in Somerset which has been rated "Outstanding" by the CQC*. This is a fixed term role for six months.

The orthopaedic unit is a positive outlier for outcomes after hip and knee replacement in the latest National PROMs study, and has been so for the past three years.
 
According to recent UK national joint registry (NJR) data we perform more than 1300 joint replacement surgical procedures per year.

This is a new role aimed at surgeons who are passionate about their practice and their career. Our posts will combine education and career development with practical patient-facing care.

You will be a highly valued member of our team bringing and developing your expertise and skills in Lower Limb Orthopaedics. We have seven established Orthopaedic consultants of which five are established hip and knee surgeons.
 
As a UK registered medical professional, and holding MRCS or equivalent, you will have a named supervisor and will be supported to gain clinical experience to support your career progression.

You will be part of a team providing an onsite orthopaedic surgical service to meet the needs of patients treated at the Practice Plus Group Hospital, Shepton Mallet.
 
Whilst a typical full time working week will comprise of 40 hours, working patterns will be flexible over primarily a Monday to Friday rota. You will be required to assist the consultant and perform a wide range of upper limb and lower limb orthopaedic surgical procedures and clinics under consultant supervision on patients referred to the hospital.

We will support you with your ongoing CPD and career development. 

There are ample opportunities for research and publications. Our consultants have a track record of publication including the Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery (JBJS) USA, and the Journal of Arthroplasty USA and European Journal of Orthopaedic Surgery & Traumatology. Our recent studies have been presented at the annual scientific congress 2021 of European Federation of National Associations of Orthopaedics and Traumatology (EFFORT).
