About The Role

We have an exciting opportunity for two Business Development Managers to join our innovative Business Development team working with a focus on either Integrated Urgent Care/Secondary Care (one role) or Health in Justice (one role).

Practice Plus Group delivers services on behalf of the NHS which are free at the point of delivery to patients. The population of patients we serve includes those needing urgent advice and treatment, and, particularly for those in secure settings, people with complex physical and mental health conditions.

We see Business Development as the vital first step of any service, where we have the opportunity to develop and articulate the best possible service model which will bring value to patients and deliver the priorities of our NHS Commissioners.Working at Practice Plus Group

Everything we do is focused on providing a high standard of safe and effective patient care. When you’re part of the Practice Plus Group team we’ll support and help you be the best you can be.

Our mission at Practice Plus Group is Access to Excellence.  Our core values are:

  •  we treat patients and each other as we would like to be treated
  •  we act with integrity
  •  we embrace diversity
  •  we strive to do things better together

About the job

The role includes writing and creating bespoke bid responses, project management of bids, and working closely with clinical and operational colleagues to develop our service models and bid responses. The successful candidate will also undertake market intelligence of local health economies and competitors to contribute to bid planning and strategy.

In addition to a base salary of ~ £45,000 per annum, there will be the opportunity to participate in Practice Plus Group’s discretionary Bid Commission scheme, where commission is paid for each bid win up to an annual value of 30% of salary.

Given the complexities of the services we offer, it will be agreed with the successful candidate whether the role specifically focuses on Integrated Urgent Care or Health in Justice healthcare services, although retaining the ability to work flexibly to support other business development opportunities should the need arise.

This role is a vital member of a small core Business Development team that creates compelling and comprehensive bid responses by working closely with colleagues from clinical, operational and support services including Finance, Governance and Human Resources. The ability to work flexibly to achieve deadlines is critical.

As a Bid Manager you may have the opportunity to lead specific bids alongside supporting other Bid Leads. You will also supervise and line manage other team members, for instance a Bid Co-ordinator who distributes and communicates all relevant bid documentation internally and externally, and/or, a Bid Writer and Researcher.

The role will be based remotely, however the successful candidate will be expected to travel to meetings as required, which are typically held in Reading or London. They will also be expected to travel further at times, for example to attend market engagement events or site visits to services in different regions around the country.

The role will report to either the Head of Business Development – Urgent Care or Senior Business Development Manager – Health in Justice, depending on which team it sits within

About You

Our ideal candidate will have experience working within business development and on large bids. We would also like the candidate to have strong writing skills, as writing and reviewing bespoke written responses for each bid will be a core element of the role.

Business Development itself is a small team within a bigger business. It is therefore vital that an individual can provide leadership and support to colleagues while being prepared to work as a team member as the need dictates. Ability to engage with and influence senior colleagues within PPG, often when working to tight deadlines, is also key.

We believe that this role offers a wide range of rewarding opportunities to the candidate:

  • Working within a fast-paced team with a full pipeline of upcoming bids for large multi-million pound services.
  • Joining our Business Development Team at a time of restructuring, providing the exciting opportunity to help shape the team.
  • Opportunity to travel nationally to visit our many healthcare services around the country, meeting the teams delivering them and gathering information for bids.
  • Working closely and building relationships with senior personnel from across the business, including up to Director-level.
  • Participation in the Business Development commission scheme when bids are successful and result in new contracts.
