About The Role

Are you looking to work within a service that offers and promotes outstanding care to its patients?

If the answer is yes, then we are looking to recruit flexible, enthusiastic individuals to work in our prison healthcare service at HMP Dovegate

Want to know more about HMP Dovegate?

HMP Dovegate is a Category B male resettlement prison in Staffordshire. It currently houses approximately 1150 prisoners both sentenced and remand. The prison also includes a separate 200-bed Therapeutic Community for repeat serious offenders. The unit, the only privately-run one in the UK and the only purpose-built therapeutic facility, offers its residents daily group therapy, which lasts between 18 months and 24 months. There is an 11 bed inpatient unit. The prison is privately operated by Serco.

What will you be doing?

As a member of the Multi-Disciplinary Team, the General Practitioner will provide clinical assessment and diagnosis to patient’s requirements and make timely decisions regarding future management. You will also provide a highly specialist resource to other healthcare staff, patients and carers and have active involvement in clinical governance/effectiveness activities.

It doesn’t end there; you will have a chance to become actively involved in audit, teaching and training (management of substance misuse and/or blood borne viruses) as well as helping us to adapt the service to the ever-changing needs of the patients.

About You

You will be a qualified GP (with GMC and performers list registration) and have a real passion for building on your medical skills in an environment that is ever changing. You’ll have a flexible approach working within a team that encourage new ideas and opinions on how to improve the service.

If you are self-motivated and able to work autonomously as well as showing plenty of initiative when it comes to handling a wide range of situations, then this could be the right role for you!

What we can offer you?

As a valued employee of Practice Plus Group, we will ensure that we offer you a salary up to £117,300 per annum including pension scheme, indemnity, on-going training and development as well designated study leave days and good quality working conditions.

Our benefits do not stop there…

We also offer 25 days annual leave rising up to 28 days with length of service along with 8 public holidays per year, 2x salary life assurance, and discounts through the NHS blue light card scheme and Practice Plus Group perks.

Other benefits include cycle to work scheme plus training and clinical development opportunities. Onsite benefits at HMP Dovegate include access to an onsite gym, free parking and subsidized café/restaurant. We are happy to consider part time roles and willing to discuss flexible shift patterns, to ensure a healthy work/life balance for all.
