About The Role

This is a fantastic opportunity to be part of our Healthcare team from the very beginning.

As a senior mental health nurse, you will be an integral part of our multi-disciplinary healthcare team. We have developed a new integrated approach to the provision of care that will meet the needs of our patient group. Our teams within healthcare will work together at each stage of the patient journey, supporting them as they arrive in HMP Five Wells (Early Days in Custody Team), delivering the care they need, promoting good health and supporting resettlement (Planned Care Team) and responding to urgent and emergency needs (Unscheduled Care Team). Whatever your clinical interests and experience, a role in HMP Five Wells will enable you to use and develop your skills and provide opportunities to expand your scope of clinical practice.

Regardless of what team you’ll work with, you’ll need expert clinical skills and the ability to demonstrate judgement in assessing and managing wide ranging and complex patient problems that patients will present with. You will provide clinical leadership and work in partnership with other health care professionals, ensuring the clinical team works cohesively and effectively to deliver a high standard of patient care. This will involve leading by example, facilitating professional and clinical development, ensuring all competency and training requirements of staff are met to ensure the safe and effective delivery of care.

About Us

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places for healthcare professionals to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

HMP Five Wells is a new establishment built in 2020 that will begin receiving patients from January 2022. It is a Category C resettlement men’s prison which will have an operational capacity of 1,680 by November 2022.  HMP Five Wells is based in Wellingborough in Northamptonshire. It is approximately 30 minutes from Bedford, 20 minutes from Northampton and 35 minutes north of Milton Keynes by car.

Practice Plus Group were recently awarded the healthcare contract at HMP Five Wells and will begin delivering services in January 2022. We are the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to offenders across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs which are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

We are passionate about what we do and our core values are:

∙ We treat patients and each other as we would like to be treated

∙ We act with integrity

∙ We embrace diversity

∙ We strive to do things better together.

If this resonates with you then we’d like to hear from you!
