About The Role

Make a difference from day one!
Are you forward-thinking, collaborative, and compassionate?

Prisons are one of the most challenging, yet rewarding places to work - if you’re looking for a role where you can develop your existing skills and learn something new every day, then this is the place to be.

Practice Plus Group is the Health in Justice Market leader, providing healthcare services to prisoners across the country. Our model of care is our Wellbeing Approach – an integrated, comprehensive approach in recognition of the fact prisoners are a socially-excluded group with healthcare needs that are complex and often associated with poor outcomes. It adopts the premise no single health/wellbeing factor can be taken in isolation of other motivational issues which might impact a person’s care.

Patient engagement is key for this role, so you must be comfortable speaking to patients on a 121 and group basis. Ideally, we are therefore looking for someone with confidence, and who has the ability to deal with potentially complex and sensitive situations.

In return for your hard work, you will receive…
A competitive salary of up to £25,000 – dependent on experience, contributory pension scheme, 25 days annual leave per annum, increasing with service up to 28 days per year plus Bank Holidays in addition to the supervision, training and development opportunism.

About You

We particularly welcome applications from individuals with direct, lived in, experience of a custodial sentence. You must be willing to work towards a degree level qualification in operational management, therefore demonstrating a flexible approach to work and study.
To be considered for the apprenticeship you must hold English and Maths at GCSE level C/4 or above or Functional Skills Level 2 in English and Maths (certificate evidence will be required).

About Us

We’re the UK’s leading independent provider of healthcare services in prisons and youth offender establishments.

We believe in putting the patient first, regardless of the environment or their history. That’s why we’re proud to deliver quality healthcare in some of the most challenging environments; care that is equal to what you receive in the community. We’re passionate about making a difference to the lives of prisoners by improving their health, securing their wellbeing and helping to reduce re-offending behaviour.

We deliver round-the-clock healthcare to more than 40,000 patients at over 45 prisons of all categories. Prisons are a community like any other and we offer all of the health services any community needs in one place and with a single team. These range from reception health checks on arrival and regular GP services, to help with substance misuse, mental health, chronic or long-term conditions, podiatry, physiotherapy and optometry.
